Jay Sandelin

Owner of Great Northern Powder Guides, as well as operator, guide, cook, and janitor. Started skiing at the age of 3 in Steamboat Springs Colorado. Ski raced, ski jumped, and Speed Skied in the U.S. and in Europe.

Kylanne Sandelin

Jay’s wife, Tarn and Dayne’s mama…Ky handles bookings, guest services, and manages the office (oh, and babysits Sway).

Tarn Sandelin

Pisten Bully operator extraordinaire as well as part owner, mechanic, and fabricator. Tarn brings years of running and maintaining heavy equipment to our team as well as snow road building. He is safe, brave, and competent in the backcountry. Tarn has grown up skiing and snowmobiling in the very terrain we can now share with the public .

Dayne Sandelin

Part owner and guide is greatly missed around these parts lately. He’s living his dream as a helicopter mechanic for Temsco . Splitting his time between Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway he is training and preparing for our next big adventure! .


Guides



Evan Kreps

Evan is our lead guide. He is also a freestyle skier and avid backcountry athlete. Evan leads our guests with his quiet, confident, amazing skiing abilities. Winner of 2009 Jr. Olympics (freestyle), freestyle coach at Whitefish Mountain Resort.

Ken Manuel

Ken started skiing in Lake Tahoe at the age of four and spent his early years ski bumming there as a lift-op at Squaw Valley. Ken started Ski Patrolling and continued his way in the ski industry in Tahoe. When the ski areas got overcrowded Ken went to the backcountry and guided for Pacific Crest Snowcats for ten years, He also worked Heli-guiding in Valdez at Alaska Backcountry Adventures. Ken has decided to settle down and move his family to our mountains.

Jude Spors-Murphy

Jude is our tail guide and loves the winter, as skiing is his passion! He grew up skiing in the hills of the Midwest always dreaming of the mountains of the west. He lives his dream here in Montana.

Scott Lawhead

Clinical Laboratory Scientist (lab tech) for Kalispell Regional HealthCare since 1996. I have a great wife and a five-year-old daughter. I enjoy anything outdoors. Snowboarding, Telemark skiing, rafting, rock climbing, winter touring, mountain biking, riding my dual-sport motorcycle, and climbing peaks in Glacier. I've travelled a bit of the world (Thailand, Costa Rica, Chile, Argentina and India, I love long walks in the snow and fine dining (PBJ's in-between laps on tours in Canada). I am very excited to be the first splitboard guide with GNPG and look forward to a fantastic season!

T.J. Andrews

T.J. Andrews started skiing Montana snow at the age of 2 switching to snowboarding at 8 and adding in tele skiing there after. The last few seasons he has traveled to Japan, Chile, and all across Montana filming a local backcountry snowboard film. An avid flyboarder and flyboard instructor in the summer and past Head Freestyle Ski and Snowboard coach for Big Mountain, he is happy to finally be a part of the GNPG Team.

Carl Hubbell

Carl grew up in Washington, were he began snowboarding at the age of six and instructing at 15. He moved to Montana six years ago and has spend much of that time exploring the state's vast mountain ranges and quiet streams and spends his summers as a king salmon guide in the Alaskan bush.

Angus Matheson

grew up in the backwoods of Virginia on a horse farm. Headed west and lived and worked in Bozeman for 6 yrs as a snowboard instructor and as an outdoor education and trail crew ! After a year living in New Zealand surfing/snowboarding/picking oranges/carnival worker! headed to Whitefish to work for GNPG! Angus is a tail guide, photographer and provides constant comic relief. He enjoys drawing, painting, making handmade Powdersurfers (wooden bindingless snowboards).

Emily Downing

Emily grew up in Colorado, where skiing is an all-but-mandatory childhood activity. After attending the University of Montana, she spent a season working at a ski area in New Zealand before returning to Montana. She's lived in Whitefish ever since, spending her summers as a hiking and rafting guide in nearby Glacier National Park. In the winter, you can find her on a skin track somewhere in the backcountry when she's not skiing with Great Northern Powder Guides.

Keith Schmoll

Tail-drive-ographer Keith is an operator, guide, and photographer. This dude literally does it all. Keith and his wife Megan moved to Whitefish after a long stint in Jackson Hole. They are happy as clams here and we are super happy to have this jack of all trades

Jody Gist

Jody’s a montana native and long time Whitefish girl with a penchant for the outdoors and ADVENTURE! She is the manager of our downtown Adventure Booking and Specialty Outfitters Store. She’s always game to lend a hand whenever and wherever we need her . she’s the friendly face downtown that can help you plan the trip of a lifetime when you come to our fair valley!

She has been a professional photographer for over 5 years, If she's not shredding the backcountry.
